Professional Learning is a very important aspect of career development at Bacon's College. We think that to get the best from every colleague, we need to provde everyone with opportunities to learn, develop and gain new experiences.
Support for professional learning is highly individualised and includes:
Every member of staff has a professional learning portfolio and annual professional learning needs assessment to ensure everyone has an opportunity to develop their talent.
Funded higher degrees and where appropriate first degrees or higher diplomas and other professional qualifications.
Participation in some of the best training programmes available to prepare for Middle and Senior Leadership.
Excellent 'in house' training focussing on pedagogical practice, delivered in 'Teaching and Learning Communities', (groups of teachers who support each other to develop their practice).
Programmes to support Beginning Teachers and Newly Qualified Teachers are delivered in house by experienced and skilled senior practitioners. Mentoring and coaching are key features of our work in this area.
The development of skills, particularly those of the College's Digital Media specialism, are considered key to our success and there are many opportunities to develop these at all levels and in a variety of ways, these range from video podcasts to 1:1 tuition to external training.
A place to grow
Bacon's College is a professional learning community with many opportunities for Professional Development.
